Day 6

Since it was our last full day today we decided to rest a little and enjoy. So we enjoyed our breakfast and after that headed out to Vitamin Sea on Brufut beach.

As usual it was calm and peaceful. Today there were a few people though, but that didn't change the fact that we got our usual spot, Wonjo and good company (the dogs and my lovely friend the cat). We layed down on the sunbeds (obviously in the shade, I’m tanned enough lol), played our music and chilled.

Since I didn’t go into the sea last time I thought let’s switch it up and go try it this time. Big mistake! At first the waves were not THAT bad. I decided to go in deeper. Then the waves started to hit me like crazy. My days…at some point I thought I’m not going to make it out (and yes I know how to swim). So after a couple of waves I decided to go out and lay down on the sunbeds again.

A few minutes later we got called to come and sit for the lunch. There was Plazas on the menu with cod. As usual it was delicious! Lamin the owner of the place joined us with the lunch, which was really nice. Not long after that it was time for us to pack our things and head out.

I promised coach Omar before that I would come watch the friendly game of his team. A promise is a promise. So our driver Lamin came to pick us up and we left the beach to head out for our long drive. I think it’s at least a 1,5 hour drive, if not longer. Luckily Lamin put on good music in the car so the time passed quick.

When we arrived they already started the game. We went to the field and greeted coach Omar. He explained a bit how things are going in his team and what kind of players he has. It was nice to speak with him and catch up a little again after our last meet in national team a couple of weeks prior. The game ended and it was time for us to head back to the hotel.

Oh no… on our way back we got a call from Yuss that we really needed to go to one meeting before we left the Gambia. Alright we’ll be there in 1,5 hours. Have in mind it’s almost 7 PM. So we drive back and pick up Yuss somewhere on our way. We have the meeting, which was very interesting (so it was good we went). Good to hear others their perspective on football and life in the Gambia. After some time we head out and say our goodbyes.

Lamin drives us back to the Senegambia area. Since it’s already 10:50 PM and Ali at Paradiso closes at 11 PM we decided to walk up there and thank him and say our goodbyes. We head back to the hotel and now it’s time to lay down a bit, shower and change to go enjoy a little bit of our last evening.

After all is done we go outside and have drink. Cheers to the last evening. With that we end this long day; day 6
