Trust The Process
Hello again!
It's been a while since I've written something on my blog but…we're back, and that's what counts right?
Anyway, usually I write about some fun things that have happened in football/ life. This time it's not that fun but these things happen in life and football.
Sadly I have been seeing too many of these posts pass on Instagram or other social media platforms. Footballers (athletes) tearing their ACL… Seems like it's “popular” these day, or maybe it's my algorithm??🥴
For those who didn't know yet, I tore my ACL in the game on April fouls day (no joke). Me at that moment didn't think it was that bad. I've had a couple times a stretched MCL so, this time I thought that the outside ligament (LCL) stretched and i’d be back playing in 6 weeks. The joke was on me. ACL tear and indeed a stretched LCL which means: I need surgery.
First surgery in my life! Me too I can’t believe it because I’m very clumsy but, hey apparently not that clumsy…
So, first surgery, no idea what to expect so I went in blank. We’ll see how it goes.
The surgery and the first four weeks of my rehab I did in Riga. Everything went well; as far as things can go well (the ones who did the rehab know what I mean). Good treatment and a lot of hours in the facility gave me a stong foundation. Riga and Aldis thanks for that.
Day by day I felt things were going better. Ofcourse some days there was more pain or discomfort but overall there was seeable improvement. Being surrounded by friends and family helps a lot.
From there I returned home and continued the process. In the video below you can see how the first 5 weeks looked like for me. Since everyone's journey is different physically and mentally the trick is not to compare yourself too much with others. Easier said than done.
Long way to go still but, Trust The Process they say
